The NSTC’s Subcommittee on Ocean Science and Technology (SOST) is Refreshing Our Ocean Research Priorities

In 2007, SOST published Charting the Course for Ocean Science in the United States for the Next Decade: An Ocean Research Priorities Plan and Implementation Strategy (ORPPIS). SOST has begun the process of refreshing the priorities in Charting the Course. During the summer of 2009, public comments were solicited through a Dear Colleague Letter and a Federal Register Notice. A series of four Town Hall events at national meetings (MTS, AGU, AMS, and TOS) was conducted to give members of the ocean S&T community additional opportunities to provide input into the refresh process and discuss progress to date with the chairs of SOST.

Questions about the ORPPIS or other SOST activities may be addressed to the SOST Executive Secretaries at Lora.Clarke@noaa.gov or ehankin@nsf.gov.
