Summary:
The First Lady travels to New Orleans, Louisiana to kick off the next phase her Let’s Move! initiative to raise a healthier generation of kids and encourages everyone to participate in the President’s Active Lifestyle Award.

This week, the First Lady traveled to New Orleans, Louisiana to kick off the next phase her Let’s Move! initiative to raise a healthier generation of kids. In the morning, Mrs. Obama spoke to students and teachers at Brock Elementary, then she joined kids and NFL players for football drills at Woldenberg Park.

The NFL is working to tackle the challenge of childhood obesity with programs “Play 60” and “Fuel Up to Play 60” that promote healthy eating and physical activity. Mrs. Obama encouraged the children she spoke to in New Orleans and kids around the country to “Play 60” and join her in competing for their President’s Active Lifestyle Award. To earn an award, children need to engage in physical activity for 60 minutes every day, five days a week, for six weeks. To show how much fun it can be, Mrs. Obama will be working to earn her Active Lifestyle Award starting next week. Kids and adults can sign up here to join the Active Lifestyle program.
