Peace Corps Postcards Video Project

Summary:
Jon Carson describes an interactive new website that highlights the work of Peace Corps volunteers, including his story.

To celebrate the fifty years of the Peace Corps’s work in 139 countries, Maureen Orth and award winning filmmaker Susan Koch traveled from Morocco to Colombia, Mongolia to Costa Rica and Mexico, to film volunteers in action. The culmination of their work is an interactive website Peace Corps Postcards, which highlights the work of Peace Corps volunteers, including prominent volunteer alumni such as former Senator Chris Dodd and MSNBC Hardball host Chris Matthews.

The website allows wider Peace Corps community and RPCVs, like myself, to contribute their own stories, pictures and “Video postcards” with the aid of a Google map. Yesterday, I added my story and the story of my dear friend Dagoberto Nunez.

I encourage all RPCVs to share their stories about how their Peace Corps experience forever shaped their lives.

Jon Carson is the Director of the Office of Public Engagement.
