Matt Flavin
Former Director of Veterans and Wounded Warrior Policy

Matt Flavin served on the National Security Council and at the Department of Defense for three years. Prior to joining the White House team, Flavin served on the Department of Defense Agency Review Team for the Obama-Biden Presidential Transition. Flavin is a United States Navy veteran, having joined shortly after September 11th. As a naval intelligence officer, Flavin completed extended combat deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq – serving as the targeting and intelligence director for Special Operations Task Force West. He also served as the operations officer for a Human Intelligence Battalion in Bosnia. Flavin was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and the Combat Action Ribbon. Flavin received his bachelor’s degree from Amherst College.
