She also worked as deputy finance director and scheduler on a congressional race in Houston, Texas during the 2008 election cycle, and interned at The Huffington Post. She holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from American University in Washington, D.C., where she served as editor in chief of the school newspaper, The Eagle.
