Kevin Clark, Ph.D, serves as a professor and director of the Center for Digital Media Innovation and Diversity in the College of Education and Human Development at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA. Dr. Clark’s recent activities have focused on the use of video game design to increase interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) careers; examining pathways and best practices for increasing diversity in STEM disciplines; and issues of diversity in the design and development of educational media products.

In 2013, President Obama signed the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), recognizing a tribe’s inherent right to protect women previously left vulnerable by gaps in the law. Three American Indian tribes will participate in the Department of Justice’s Pilot Project to implement the new law.

We at OSTP are geeking out about the news that among the esteemed guests who will be sitting with the First Lady during tomorrow’s State of the Union address will be 16-year old science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) all-star and “Maker” extraordinaire Joey Hudy, who, as a middle-schooler in 2012, gained national fame after demonstrating his surprisingly explosive invention for the President at the White House Science Fair.
