Our cybersecurity in large part depends on the strength of the weakest part of a network. So, it is critical that the private sector, federal, state and local governments, and communities work together to build up our cyber security.

Developed in 2011, the National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace (NSTIC) is a key Administration initiative to work collaboratively with the private sector, advocacy groups, public sector agencies, and other organizations to improve the privacy, security, and convenience of sensitive online transactions.

The White House releases its quarterly update on the federal government’s progress to achieve the Cross-Agency Priority Goal on Cybersecurity. Our aim is for executive branch departments and agencies to achieve 95 percent implementation of the Administration’s priority cybersecurity capabilities by the end of fiscal year 2014.

The White House Cybersecurity Coordinator met with thousands of cybersecurity practitioners and stakeholders and got feedback on President Obama's plan to develop cybersecurity standards, improve public-private information sharing, and ensure privacy and civil liberties protections.

President Obama issued an Executive Order directing federal departments and agencies to use their existing authorities to provide better cybersecurity for the Nation, efforts that will by necessity involve increased collaboration with the private sector.

A new inter-agency working group will be responsible for developing plans to implement an Internet safety approach to address online violent extremism, coordinating the federal government’s activities and assessing our progress against these plans, and identifying additional activities to pursue for countering online radicalization to violence.
