President George W. Bush and Laura Bush today attended a church service honoring Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on January 20, 2003.
President Bush issued a
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
Proclamation, and Mrs. Bush participated in the Martin Luther King, Jr. "Holiday of Service" kickoff at the MLK Library in Washington, DC. During the visit, Mrs. Bush read to elementary school children. Later, she and her staff took part in a service project at the library.
