Rating
What This Rating Means |
PERFORMING Adequate
This rating describes a program that needs to set more ambitious goals, achieve better results, improve accountability or strengthen its management practices.
- Overall, the program exhibits good management practices. Performance information is collected and used to manage, incentives for efficiency exist, and program managers are held accountable for results.
- The Marshals' Judicial Protection program has demonstrated some progress in achieving its performance goals. The program has met or exceeded targets in preventing assaults against Federal judges, producing detainees as scheduled for court proceedings, and ensuring that Federal judicial proceedings are not interrupted due to inadequate security.
- The program would benefit from increased coordination with other agencies that have similar security responsibilities. In order to prevent duplication of effort and to ensure comprehensive security planning, the program should enhance coordination with the Administrative Office of the US Courts.

About Improvement Plans |
We are taking the following actions to improve the performance of the program:
- Developing a long term, comprehensive court security resource plan in conjunction with the Federal Judiciary to ensure that both parties share a common vision of the future of the program.
- Improving off-site and personal security of the judiciary by increasing residential security surveys.
