EL VICEPRESIDENTE BIDEN Y LA DRA. JILL BIDEN VIAJAN A COLOMBIA, TRINIDAD Y TOBAGO, Y BRASIL
El Vicepresidente y la Dra. Jill Biden partieron hacia Bogotá, que será su primera parada en un viaje de seis días a Colombia, Trinidad y Tobago, y Brasil. En cada uno de los países, el Vicepresidente se reunirá con líderes clave para discutir una amplia gama de asuntos bilaterales, regionales y globales. Este viaje será una oportunidad importante para discutir nuestros esfuerzos conjuntos para promover el crecimiento y desarrollo económicos, el acceso a la energía, y nuestra colaboración sostenida sobre la seguridad ciudadana.
Durante su estadía en Colombia, el Vicepresidente se reunirá con el Presidente Juan Manuel Santos para aumentar nuestra cooperación en los asuntos regionales y globales, reafirmar nuestra relación sobre la seguridad, y concentrarse en las maneras de optimizar la prosperidad de ambos de nuestros países. El Vicepresidente también visitará una plantación de flores en Bogotá que exporta a los Estados Unidos, y participará en una ceremonia para colocar coronas florales. En su estadía en Trinidad y Tobago, el Vicepresidente se reunirá con la Primera Ministra Kamla Persad-Bissessar así como con los líderes de otros países del Caribe para discutir asuntos de energía, integración económica y seguridad ciudadana.
El miércoles, 29 de mayo, el Vicepresidente pronunciará un discurso en Río de Janeiro. El Vicepresidente también se reunirá con líderes empresariales y comunitarios brasileños durante su visita a Río. En Brasilia, el Vicepresidente se reunirá con la Presidente Dilma Rousseff y el Vicepresidente Michel Temer y discutirá las maneras de solidificar nuestra alianza económica y comercial y de aumentar nuestra participación en la amplia gama de asuntos que conectan a nuestros dos países.

VICE PRESIDENT BIDEN, DR. JILL BIDEN TRAVEL TO COLOMBIA, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO, AND BRAZIL
The Vice President and Dr. Jill Biden have departed for Bogotá, the first stop on a six-day trip to Colombia, Trinidad and Tobago, and Brazil. In each country, the Vice President will meet with key leaders to discuss a full range of bilateral, regional and global issues. This trip will be an important chance to discuss our collective efforts to promote economic growth and development, access to energy, and our ongoing collaboration on citizen security.
While in Colombia, the Vice President will meet with President Juan Manuel Santos to build on our cooperation on regional and global issues, reaffirm our security relationship, and focus on ways to further the prosperity of our two countries. The Vice President will also visit a flower farm in Bogotá that exports to the United States, and participate in a wreath-laying ceremony. While in Trinidad and Tobago, the Vice President will meet with Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar as well as leaders of other Caribbean countries to discuss energy, economic integration, and citizen security.
On Wednesday, May 29th, the Vice President will deliver a speech in Rio de Janeiro. The Vice President will also meet with Brazilian business and community leaders while in Rio. In Brasilia, the Vice President will meet with President Dilma Rousseff and Vice President Michel Temer and discuss ways to deepen our economic and commercial partnership and further our engagement on the broad array of issues that connect our two countries.

Cut flowers are one of Colombia’s most valuable export agriculture industries, and an industry that employs a largely female labor force in low-income areas. The United States is Colombia's largest trading partner; Colombia’s cut flower industry has flourished in part as a result of the 2012 free trade agreement between the U.S. and Colombia.
Later in the afternoon, the Vice President and Dr. Biden will join Colombian military and police leadership to participate in a wreath-laying ceremony to honor U.S. and Colombian military members who died in service to their country. This wreath-laying is pooled press.
