En el mensaje de esta semana, Ricardo Zúñiga habló sobre el Día de los Padres y el papel fundamental que los padres tienen en la creación de familias fuertes. Zúñiga resaltó que este sábado marca el primer aniversario de la Acción Diferida para los Llegados en la Infancia, que ha levantado "Dreamers” fuera de la sombra de la deportación al proporcionarles un alivio temporal. El habló sobre la importancia de aprobar una reforma migratoria bipartidista de sentido común para crear una solución permanente para los “Dreamers” y reunir a familias en todo Estados Unidos.

Hola a todos. Este domingo es el Día de los Padres, así es que quería tomarme un momento para hablar sobre el trabajo más importante que muchos de nosotros podamos tener jamás, y es ser padre.
Ser un buen padre no es algo fácil. Exige la atención constante de uno, sacrificios frecuentes, y una buena dosis de paciencia. Y nadie es perfecto. Hasta el día de hoy, todavía estoy tratando de entender cómo ser un mejor esposo para mi señora y un mejor padre para mis hijas.
Esta Administración continuará estimulando el matrimonio y las familias sólidas. Debemos reformar nuestras leyes de manutención de hijos para lograr que haya más hombres que trabajen y que estén más involucrados en las vidas de sus hijos. Y la Administración del Presidente Obama continuará colaborando con las organizaciones religiosas y comunitarias, así como con los negocios, en una campaña para estimular la función de ser buenos padres y la paternidad.
Porque, si hay algo que yo haya aprendido en este camino, es que todos nuestros éxitos personales brillan un poquito menos si no tenemos éxito como familia. Eso es lo que más importa.
Como cualquier padre, estoy motivado por el deseo de crear un mundo más seguro y más próspero para nuestros hijos. Y como padre de dos niñas, Sara y Carolina, también quiero asegurar que ellas tengan las mismas oportunidades que yo tuve y que, al fin, las mujeres reciban el mismo trato que los hombres en sus vidas profesionales.
Eso es lo que yo creo que significa ser padre. Y, si podemos hacer nuestro mejor esfuerzo por ser una fuente de bienestar y estímulo para nuestros hijos; si podemos demostrarles un amor incondicional y ayudarlos a convertirse en los adultos que estaban destinados a ser; entonces habremos tenido éxito.
Actualmente, hay muchos jóvenes inmigrantes que fueron traídos aquí por padres en busca de una vida mejor para ellos y sus familias. Estos jóvenes prometedores se criaron aquí y aman a este país tanto como ustedes o como yo. Ellos merecen una oportunidad y sus padres la merecen también.
El sábado hará un año que el Departamento de Seguridad Nacional tomó acción para eliminarles la sombra de la deportación a los “Dreamers” que sean elegibles, de manera que ellos puedan contribuir plenamente a nuestra economía y a nuestra sociedad.
Sin embargo, la acción diferida nunca tuvo el propósito de ser una solución permanente. Por eso es que necesitamos que el Congreso apruebe la legislación de reforma migratoria bipartidista lo antes posible. Esta legislación histórica les proveería la oportunidad a los padres de reunirse con sus hijos y les permitiría a los "Dreamers" continuar contribuyendo al país que ellos consideran su patria.
Feliz Día de los Padres a todos los papás, y que disfruten de un magnífico fin de semana.

He discusses the importance of passing a bipartisan commonsense immigration reform bill to create a permanent solution for “Dreamers” and reunite families across America.

Hi, everybody. This Sunday is Father’s Day, and so I wanted to take a moment to talk about the most important job many of us will ever have – and that’s being a dad.
Being a good parent isn’t easy. It demands your constant attention, frequent sacrifice, and a healthy dose of patience. And nobody’s perfect. To this day, I’m still figuring out how to be a better husband to my wife and father to my kids.
This Administration will continue to encourage marriage and strong families. We should reform our child support laws to get more men working and involved in their children’s’ lives. And President Obama’s Administration will continue to work with the faith and other community organizations, as well as businesses, on a campaign to encourage strong parenting and fatherhood.
Because if there’s one thing I’ve learned along the way, it’s that all our personal successes shine a little less brightly if we fail at family. That’s what matters most.
And like any father, I am motivated to create a world that is safer and more prosperous for our children. As a father of two daughters, Sara and Carolina, I also want to make sure that they have the same opportunities that I had and in the end, ensure that women are treated the same as men in their professional lives.
That’s what I think being a father is all about. And if we can do our best to be a source of comfort and encouragement to our kids; if we can show them unconditional love and help them grow into the people they were meant to be; then we will have succeeded.
Today, there are many young immigrants who were brought here by parents seeking a better life for themselves and their families. These promising young people grew up here and love this country as much as you or I. They deserve an opportunity and so do their parents.
One year ago Saturday, the Department of Homeland Security took action to lift the shadow of deportation for eligible “Dreamers” so they can fully contribute to our economy and our society.
But deferred action was never meant to be a permanent solution. That’s why we need Congress to pass bipartisan immigration reform legislation as soon as possible. This historic legislation would provide the opportunity for fathers to reunite with their children and allow "Dreamers" to continue contributing to the country they call home.
