WATCH: The best is yet to come
When President Trump took the Oath of Office, he promised an end to the empty talk of politicians and the beginning of a great national effort to rebuild our country:
Today we are not merely transferring power from one Administration to another, or from one party to another—but we are transferring power from Washington, D.C., and giving it back to you, the American People.
For too long, a small group in our nation’s Capital has reaped the rewards of government while the people have borne the cost.
Washington flourished, but the people did not share in its wealth.
Politicians prospered, but the jobs left and the factories closed.
The establishment protected itself, but not the citizens of our country.
. . . That all changes–starting right here and right now.
The American story is the story of patriots—ordinary people of every race, religion, and creed—standing up for their rights to be heard, to protect themselves, and to be free. It’s a story worth telling over and over again so that we never forget it.
President Trump loves America, our shared history, and our great American flag. Today, the far left’s goal is to erase that history and the culture that unites us.
We will never let that happen. The United States was founded on the belief that life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are unalienable rights. These principles form the core of our American identity. Our struggle to live up to them defines American history.
President Trump is promoting national unity by renewing the understanding of—and commitment to—these shared founding principles. Through a new Executive Order, he is establishing the President’s Advisory 1776 Commission, which will work to better educate America’s young generations about the history and principles of our nation.
America belongs to all of us. President Trump will always fight to protect it from those who wish to tear it down. Together, we will build it stronger each and every time.
America’s future is in our hands, and the best is yet to come.
