Stephanie Sykes serves as the Special Assistant to the President for the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs. Previously, she was a Senior Advisor at the Department of Commerce and the Director of Intergovernmental Affairs for the White House Infrastructure Implementation Team. She first joined the Biden-Harris Administration as Director of Intergovernmental Affairs at the U.S. Department of Commerce. Previously, Sykes served as the Founding Executive Director and General Counsel of the African American Mayors Association for over six years. She has also worked as a corporate attorney at Simpson Thacher in New York and began her career as a policy analyst for the New Jersey Assembly Democratic Office. Originally from Pennsylvania, Sykes holds a J.D. from Duke University School of Law and is a graduate of Princeton University. She currently resides in Virginia with her husband and two children.
