On Wednesday, President Donald J. Trump met with immigration crime victims to urge the passage of House legislation to save American lives.
He advocated for the swift passage of the No Sanctuary for Criminals Act and Kate’s Law, which will address sanctuary cities and enhance penalties for those who repeatedly enter the country illegally.
“We’re calling on all members of Congress to honor grieving American families by passing these lifesaving measures in the House, in the Senate, and then sending them to my desk for a very rapid signature. I promise you, it will be done quickly,” he said.
The President is keeping his promises to the American people and taking action to enforce our country’s immigration laws and put the safety of the American people first.
In just the first few months of his presidency, President Trump’s policies have already had an impact, with 64% fewer apprehensions and inadmissible entries at the Southwest border compared to the same time last year. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has seen nearly 40% more Enforcement and Removal Operations compared to the same time last year.
President Trump has acted to strengthen the country’s ability to enforce the laws and stop illegal aliens at the border and has directed the hiring of 10,000 additional ICE agents and 5,000 additional Border Patrol agents.
President Trump is committed to bringing law and order back to our broken immigration system.
