President Barack Obama talks with coach Geno Auriemma

Yesterday, we arrived at the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro! No, not quite for our swimming or basketball skills, but as a part of the 2016 Presidential Delegation joining Secretary Kerry at the Olympic Games. We're thrilled to represent our country as a part of the Delegation and to celebrate all that the Olympics represents. You can follow along on our trip as we tour the Olympic Village, attend the opening ceremonies, and cheer on Team USA as events kick off this Saturday. We’ll be taking over the White House Snapchat and Instagram to give you an inside peek.

On the White House Snapchat, President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama root on Team USA for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.

We are longtime sports fans and can't wait to attend the events that we've been watching for years on TV. But the Olympic Games are bigger than any one sport or competition. They are a chance for us to come together, not just as a nation, but as a world. People from countries around the globe gather to participate in the Games and witness displays of sportsmanship, excellence, and the triumph of the human spirit. As members of the Presidential Delegation, we are filled with pride to be part of this incredible event.
