Brian Kasher

Brian Kasher is the Manager of Environmental Health and Safety for the Charlotte Mecklenburg School District, with 20.1 million square feet of occupied space, 630 buildings and 1250 mobile units he serves 180,000 daily occupants. Brian leads cross-departmental, tactical management plan teams working on environmental improvement -- in the areas of: engagement, alternate funding, utility conservation, waste reduction and recycling, fleet emissions reduction, green purchasing and sustainable development -- leading the district's indoor air quality program recognized by the United States Environmental Protection Agency as a National Model of Sustained Excellence. Brian is a principal author of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Board of Education environmental policy, Strategic Plan 2014 Environmental Focus Area, and associated tactical management plans. Brian currently serves as an appointee of the North Carolina Secretary of the Department of the Environment and Natural Resources to the North Carolina Environmental Stewardship advisory committee; is a member of the USEPA Tools for Schools program faculty; serves as an environmental health expert for the American Association of School Administrators and American School Business Officials International; serves on the Mecklenburg County Environmental Leadership Team; Centralia Council of Governments Clean Fuels Coalition Board of Directors; and is a subject matter expert for the North Carolina Baptist Men’s disaster relief safety team. Brian has a Master’s Degree in Public Interest Advocacy, Graduate Certificate in Public Management Practices, Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Communication from the University of Illinois at Springfield and is a Certified Environmental Trainer. Brian Kasher is being honored as a Champion of Change for his innovative energy priorities and sustainable living practices making a greener community a possibility in any American city or town.
