The Vice President lauded the essential work of the U.S.-EU Trade and Technology Council to update the rules of the road for the 21st century economy in a way that reflects our shared democratic values. Vice President Harris and President Michel agreed on the need for concrete actions to create norms around critical and emerging technology and discussed the importance of cooperating in the Indo-Pacific region. The Vice President thanked President Michel for the EU’s humanitarian work around the world and welcomed close coordination on responding to crises and addressing the root causes of migration.
