President Biden Announces Key Nominee
WASHINGTON – Today, President Joe Biden announced his intent to nominate Patricia Neuman to serve as Member of the Supplementary Medical Insurance Trust Fund Board of Trustees, the Federal Hospital Insurance Trust Fund Board of Trustees, and the Federal Old-Age and Survivors Insurance Trust Fund and the Federal Disability Insurance Board of Trustees.
Dr. Neuman is a senior vice president of the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF), Executive Director of KFF’s Program on Medicare Policy, and senior advisor to the KFF President. Dr. Neuman is a nationally recognized Medicare policy expert, with extensive knowledge of issues associated with coverage, affordability, spending and financing, care of older Americans and people with disabilities, and proposals to sustain Medicare for the future. Dr. Neuman has testified before numerous Congressional committees, and has published extensively on health coverage, retirement security, and challenges facing Medicare’s future.
Dr. Neuman previously served on the professional staff of the Committee on Ways and Means Subcommittee on Health in the House of Representatives, and on the staff of the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging. She is a member of the National Academy of Social Insurance. Dr. Neuman received a doctorate in health policy and management and a masters in health finance and management from the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut.
