The Council of Economic Advisers is seeking a Special Adviser to the Chief Economist for the Investing in America Cabinet (IIA Chief Economist).

Major Duties

  • Manage the IIA Chief Economist’s research pipeline, which includes working with data, writing literature reviews, editing written products, and coordinating review processes.
  • Write newsletters summarizing relevant economic research related to the President’s Investing in America agenda.
  • Track developments in key macroeconomic data related to the Investing in America agenda. Summarize relevant research about macroeconomics, industrial policy, climate, infrastructure, and manufacturing.
  • Draft remarks, talking points, and slide decks for public events.
  • Under the direction of the IIA Chief Economist, plan and organize events with Administration officials, researchers, private sector experts, and more.

Background

Applicants should be college graduates with at least two years of relevant economic policy experience. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented individual who is able to clearly communicate verbally and in writing complex economic concepts. The ideal applicant will have experience working on tight timelines to analyze economic data available from major public sources (e.g. Census, BLS). Candidate must also be willing and able to work independently and quickly, with the ability to drive forward projects while responding to and implementing feedback.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must be 18 years of age or older before the first day of the program
  • Males must be registered with Selective Service
  • 4-year degree with substantial coursework in economics as well as coursework in statistics; excellent grades.
  • Must obtain and maintain a favorable security determination and pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Have demonstrated interest in economics, statistics, mathematics, public policy, or finance with a strong academic record and passion for public service
  • Have excellent writing and analytical skills
  • Have experience using Microsoft Office and conducting research and analysis
  • Solid Excel skills.
  • Preferred candidates will have experience with Stata (or a similar statistical software)
