President Donald J. Trump today announced his intent to nominate the following individual to a key position in his Administration:
James H. Anderson of Virginia, to be an Assistant Secretary of Defense for Strategy, Plans, and Capabilities. Dr. Anderson currently serves as Vice President of Academic Affairs at Marine Corps University, where he provides leadership and oversight for academic and professional military education programs to 70,000 marines annually. Dr. Anderson previously served as the Director of Middle East Policy in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, and the Director of the Program of Advanced Security Studies at the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies. From 1986 to 1989, he served on active duty as an intelligence officer in the United States Marine Corps. His professional awards include the Department of the Army Superior Civilian Service Award and the Office of the Secretary of Defense Medal for Exceptional Public Service. Dr. Anderson earned his Ph.D. in International Relations and his Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University, and his B.A. from Amherst College.

Christopher D. Miller of Colorado, to be Chairman of the United States Section of the Permanent Joint Board on Defense for the United States and Canada.
Meaghan C. Mobbs of Virginia, to be a Member of the Board of Visitors to the United States Military Academy for the remainder of a three year term expiring December 30, 2020.
R. James Nicholson of Colorado to be a Member of the Board of Visitors to the United States Military Academy for the remainder of a three year term expiring December 30, 2020.
