Statement by NSC Spokesperson Ned Price on the New Italian Government

The United States congratulates Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni of Italy and the new Italian Government on their swearing-in.  Italy is one of our closest and strongest allies and an indispensable partner in promoting democratic ideals and fostering international cooperation across a range of shared global priorities.  The President welcomes the Prime Minister’s commitment to improving Italy’s economy and creating jobs, and he looks forward to working together to advance mutual objectives, including promoting sustainable, inclusive economic growth and enhancing global security.
