Statement by NSC Spokesperson Caitlin Hayden on Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism Lisa Monaco’s Meeting with Yemeni Minister of Finance Sakhir Wajih and Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Mohammed Saadi

Today, Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism Lisa Monaco met with Yemeni Minister of Finance Sakhir Wajih and Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Mohammed Saadi, at the White House.  Ms. Monaco reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to support Yemen’s economic reform and development agenda as a key component of the country’s transition process.  She also commended the recent efforts of President Hadi and the Yemeni government to move forward with the economic reforms outlined in Yemen’s Mutual Accountability Framework to better address the needs of all Yemenis.  They also discussed specific ways in which the United States can partner with the international community to support the Yemeni government’s near-term economic reform goals.
