Readout of Gender Policy Council and National Security Council Meeting with the Government of Uzbekistan

Today, Jennifer Klein, Assistant to the President and Director of the Gender Policy Council and Nicholas Berliner, Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Russia and Central Asia, met with Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Presidential Administration Communications and Information Policy Department of Uzbekistan.  They discussed their commitment to promote gender equity and equality, including through enhancing legal protections for survivors of domestic violence, addressing human trafficking, and advancing women’s economic empowerment.  The United States is committed to deepening our strategic partnership through cooperation on these issues and to supporting Uzbekistan’s independence and sovereignty.
