On Tuesday, September 10, the White House hosted more than 70 small business owners and leaders of business organizations from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina for a discussion on the Biden-Harris Administration’s actions to support entrepreneurs, create more opportunities for Americans, and invest in communities across the country. The attendees met with senior officials from the White House, Treasury Department, and Small Business Administration to share feedback on Administration policies and programs to invest in small businesses and underserved communities.

Under President Biden and Vice President Harris, more than 2.7 million jobs have been created and more than $122 billion has been invested by the private sector in the states represented in Thursday’s meeting. The Administration’s efforts to support entrepreneurs have powered a small business boom, with more than 19 million new business applications filed since the President and Vice President took office, including more than 4.6 million in these five states alone.

Tuesday’s meeting was the fourth in a series of White House Regional Business Briefings, following convenings of Mid-Atlantic business leaders in March, Midwest business leaders in May, and Southwest business leaders in July.

Administration participants included:

  • Wally Adeyemo, Deputy Secretary of the Treasury
  • Dilawar Syed, Deputy Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration
  • Carolina Young, Chief Economic Advisor, Office of the Vice President
  • Ryan Whalen, Special Assistant to the President and Senior Advisor for States and Implementation, Office of Intergovernmental Affairs
  • Kate Balcerzak, Special Assistant to the President for Private Sector and Partnerships, Office of Public Engagement
  • Jackson Spivey, Senior Advisor for the White House Office of Public Engagement
