RiverWorks Discovery is an innovative outreach program that tells the big story of America’s rivers – Commerce, Culture, and Conservation. Created in 2004 by then-AEP River Operations president Mark Knoy and continuing under current AEP River Operations president Keith Darling, RiverWorks Discovery brings towboat pilots as well as environmental educators to learners across the country to show how important river commerce is to our nation’s economic and fiscal security. An RWD national exhibit will soon be traveling the United States.

When the Christian Valley Baptist Church in Boligee, AL was destroyed by last April's tornadoes, they faced an insurmountable repair bill. But members of an Ohio Mennonite congregation stepped in to help rebuild, finding housing at a congregation in Boligee that, possibly due to racial tension, had been burned down in 1996 and rebuilt.

Rising to the occassion -- Melinda Wiggins has done just that and inspires students that participate in her Student Action with Farmworkers (SAF) program to do the same. Addressing immediate problems facing farmworkers, Melinda echoes the ideals of Cesar Chavez -- service, acceptance and respect for life and the environment.
