    Axios

    REPORTER

    Marc Caputo

    CLAIM

Stabbing video fuels MAGA’s crime message

    CATEGORY

    Bias, Malpractice

    THE OFFENSE

Axios’ Marc Caputo denigrated the murder of Iryna Zarutska by claiming conservatives were using the issue for political capital.

    THE TRUTH

Zarutska’s murderer, Decarlos Brown, Jr., was a repeat felon and career criminal who had recently been released from jail in accordance with “no cash bail” policies in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.Marc Caputo claimed that those who would promulgate footage of this horrific event serve as, “a visual counterpoint to statistics showing crime decreases.” Ask yourself, why would Axios, who according to their mission statement claim to be, “turning our full focus to a deeper crisis faced by Americans: the erosion of truth, trust, safety and sanity in the news,” be devoting their labor toward a biased narrative that erodes truth, trust, safety and sanity in the news. There is nothing trustworthy about the way that Axios covered this story. There is nothing safe about discouraging citizens from advocating on behalf of Iryna Zarutska, and there is nothing sane about choosing to push back against those holding murderous animals accountable for their crimes. This tragic incident is deserving of America’s attention. Axios and Marc Caputo chose to publish an article that treated citizens calling for law and order in their country with disdain rather than report the news in an honest and unbiased manner.

    KEY POINTS

    • Axios disparaged those seeking to hold Iryna Zarutska’s murderer accountable.

    SOURCES

    • Stabbing video fuels MAGA's crime message
    • Mecklenburg County has a new bail policy. But does it go too far — or not far enough?

    CLAIM

L.A. mother says she was taken to U.S. border, being held until she self-deports

    CATEGORY

    Bias, Lie

    THE OFFENSE

KTLA’s Lily Dallow published an article that blindly accepted the claims of a Los Angeles woman who said she’d been kidnapped by ICE.

    THE TRUTH

The entire story was fabricated. The Los Angeles woman – Yuriana Calderon – was never in ICE custody and instead made up the kidnapping story to generate public sympathy and solicit donations.

    KEY POINTS

    • An illegal immigrant told an elaborate lie meant to demonize law enforcement.
    • KTLA eagerly spread the story without confirming its credibility.

Black mayors and leaders decry Trump’s threats to deploy National Guard in cities

    CATEGORY

    Bias, Malpractice

    THE OFFENSE

NBC News released a one-sided article disparaging President Trump’s enhanced law enforcement operations in Washington, D.C.

    THE TRUTH

The “immigration advocates” cited in the article are far-left partisan sources who claimed that President Trump’s law enforcement efforts were a “federal coup.” Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, Al Sharpton, Marc Morial, and Derrick Johnson were among the partisans quoted in the article. Bunn’s writing included only two republican voices of dissent, one of which was buried in the bottom of the article.

    KEY POINTS

    • NBC News’ Curtis Bunn published a one-sided article that overrepresented biased left-wing voices in an effort to undermine President Trump’s law enforcement operations in the nation’s capital.

    CLAIM

Trump Administration Draft Order Calls for Drastic Overhaul of State Department

    CATEGORY

    Bias, Malpractice

    THE OFFENSE

New York Times reporter Edward Wong sent a request for comment at 2:28am on Easter Sunday and published his story regarding an unreliably sourced draft executive order (without receiving comment) roughly an hour later at 3:30am.

    THE TRUTH

The draft executive order had, in NYT’s own words, “…no indications that Mr. Rubio or his top aides have signed off on the document.” In the same article Edward Wong also wrote, “It was not immediately clear who had compiled the document or what stage of internal debates over a restructuring of the State Department it reflected.” Despite being unable to confirm the origin of the alleged draft executive order, or even its legitimacy as an official State Department document, the New York Times published the article without comment from the White House Press Office.

    KEY POINTS

    • The New York Times posted an unsubstantiated and irresponsibly sourced draft executive order without confirming its legitimacy, or giving the White House proper time to respond to the inquiry.

    CLAIM

Exclusive: Early US intel assessment suggests strikes on Iran did not destroy nuclear sites, sources say

    CATEGORY

    Bias, Lie

    THE OFFENSE

CNN’s Natasha Bertrand – the same “journalist” who reported the Hunter Biden laptop was Russian disinformation and the COVID lab leak was a conspiracy theory – published an inaccurate preliminary threat assessment downplaying the damage from U.S. strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

    THE TRUTH

At President Trump’s direction, the U.S. military totally obliterated Iran’s nuclear program, the Israel Atomic Energy Commission finding “the devastating US strike on Fordo destroyed the site’s critical infrastructure and rendered the enrichment facility inoperable,” and Iran’s own Foreign Ministry spokesman admitting their “nuclear installations have been badly damaged.”

    KEY POINTS

    • ake news journalist Natasha Bertrand published a confidential and inaccurate assessment of Operation Midnight Hammer.

    CATEGORY

    Bias, Malpractice

    THE OFFENSE

The Washington Post published an article asserting that Israeli troops had killed more than 30 people near a U.S. aid site in Gaza.

    THE TRUTH

The so-called “health officials” the Washington Post cited were members of the Hamas-controlled Gaza Health Ministry. WaPo was ultimately forced to issue a correction.

    KEY POINTS

Teen allegedly killed by soccer coach died of acute alcohol poisoning, family’s attorney says

    CATEGORY

    Bias, Omission of context

    THE OFFENSE

When covering the brutal murder of a 13-year-old boy in Sun Valley, California, the Los Angeles Times omitted the fact the perpetrator was an illegal immigrant given “sanctuary status” by Los Angeles Democrats.

    THE TRUTH

This is an all-too-common example of legacy media outlets omitting perpetrators’ immigration statuses in an effort to downplay the threat posed by violent illegal alien criminals.

    KEY POINTS

    • The LATimes intentionally mischaracterized a child-murderering illegal immigrant as a “Soccer Coach.”
