Rick Hart serves as a Special Assistant to the Director of the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs. He previously served as Special Assistant to the Director of Presidential Personnel and as a legislative correspondent to U.S. Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock where he covered education and labor policy. Rick is a summa cum laude graduate of Morehouse College, where he doubled majored in political science and sociology and minored in criminal justice. Hailing from Silver Spring, Maryland, Rick first became involved in politics as an eight-year old knocking on doors for President Obama with his grandmother.
Rick joined now-President Joe Biden’s campaign for the presidency in October of 2019 as a volunteer and later worked as a fellow for the campaign. In early 2020, he assisted in the coordination of student outreach efforts for the Biden campaign on the ground during both the Iowa Caucus and the South Carolina Primary.
Beginning in July of 2020, as part of fellowship, Rick began to serve as a lead coordinator of student and youth outreach (18-35 year-olds) in Georgia through the Democratic Party of Georgia’s coalition department. He was part of the field team that worked to flip the state blue on the presidential level for the first time since 1992.
As a past President of the Morehouse College Chapter of National Action Network, Rick was featured as a speaker during the 57th Anniversary of the March on Washington at the Lincoln Memorial in August of 2019. He worked as Young Georgians Engagement Director for U.S. Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock’s 2021 runoff election and served as the President of Young Democrats of Georgia in 2021.
